Let’s talk about winter dresses and pockets for a moment. You’ll soon find that I only (yes, only) wear layers of leggings (3 to be extra, no exaggeration) and winter dresses during the winter, at least on outings — when I’m home, it’s sweatpants and fuzzy socks all the way. I’m picky about dresses and finding the right dress, or dresses which tends to be the case for me. Not only does it fit nice and comfy, but how can I style this dress. I’m loving this burgundy dress not only for it’s color, but also because of its little gold touches. Now for the dress to win me over, not only does it have to be in my size — don’t you just get heated when you find ‘the’ dress only to discover it’s not in your size, and then you contemplate if you can make the size you found work, just so you can have the dress — if that dress has pockets, JACKPOT! When I find dresses that have pockets, I feel like I’ve hit the mother-load and light up like a christmas tree (not the best seasonal humor, I’m working on it). I know I’m not the only one who judges a dress based on whether it has pockets or not. Unfortunately, my obsession with pockets is
excessive pretty far up there, so much that this is the main element I look for in a dress. Can you really blame me?!
Another truth, I recently fell in love with burgundy about a year ago. I absolutely love the color for any season, particular fall and winter. I love the idea of pairing fall/winter dresses with boots and over-the-knee boots. However, with every love comes to hope that the item you fall in love with has a nice [affordable] price tag. One could only wish the saying ‘money grows on trees’ was accurate enough that you could go to Home Depot and purchase and plant such trees in your backyard. Shopping at a few of my favorite stores, getting items on sale just makes styling the outfit even better! So much so I ask my husband to guess how much each sales item was. Needless to say, he now provides me with the same 2 or 3 prices and now I have to bribe him with cupcakes and cookies to participate in the guessing game.
If you love gold touches just as much as I do, not only am I loving The Songbird Collection‘s Stack’em Up rings, but I finally found midi rings that fit my skeleton-like fingers. I cannot get enough of these rights, not only do they match the zippers of this dress, but they also beautifully made and add a simple addition to the outfit. The Stack’em Up rings come with five rings that you can alternate in different ways to fit your style.
As this is one of my first posts, I’m sure I’ll say this more than once, but I’m all about trying new styles! Trying styles you never considered and finding ways to add your version of sass to everything you wear. The right amount of ‘sass’ being the key part. I feel like sass is an accessory you bring with you everywhere and can’t go without, similar to sarcastic humor, and I’m happy to say I’ll bring both to every post. I went a little tame on the sarcasm in this post, partially due to nerves on launching but also because I used a majority of my energy trying not to write in all caps when talking about POCKETS(!).
If you’ve come this far in the post, thank you for bearing it with me. I did not realize how much I wrote until I finished writing! Can’t end this post without saying thank you for following on this journey with me and I hope you learned a little more about me, I’m sure my wanderlust tendencies are visible in this post, and that you were able to find a little inspiration!
